The paper trail
The Sunshine Log.
Every open-records request this project has filed, in one place: what was asked, when the law required an answer, and what has actually arrived. Missouri’s Sunshine Law gives a custodian three business days to respond, or to say in writing why they need more time and when the records will come. Silence is not one of the options. It is, however, a record of its own, so we keep one.
As of Nov. 4, 2026
Jackson County
Silent. 22 days since the request, 19 past the response deadline.
Asked for: The narrowed follow-up to disclosure R009789-100826: the rest of the employment record beyond the four fields the county released.
Sent Oct. 13. The law gave the custodian three business days, to Oct. 16, to respond or state a reason and a date for more time. No acknowledgment of any kind has arrived.

Promised by Oct. 23. Twelve days past that promise.
Asked for: The City's impeachment records, from the City and its attorneys.
Requested in writing in September. The statutory window closed without a response; the custodian then gave a date for an update, Friday, Oct. 23. That update has not arrived either.
Missouri Department of Revenue
Declined, Oct. 14.
Asked for: The records behind the state tax lien.
The lien docket itself is public at Case No. 1616-MC15890 and is published in the tax file; this request sought the underlying records. The Department declined it.

Response date moved to Dec. 10.
Asked for: An open Sunshine Law matter.
The one deadline on the books. When the response arrives it publishes here the same day, whatever it says.
When a response lands, it is published in the Vault the same day, unedited, next to the request that produced it. The log above is the whole list: nothing has been filed that is not on it.
